SK Resilience Centre is owned by Sabrina Khandai (she/her).
Sabrina is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with the International Association of Trauma Professionals. Sabrina is also Certified in PEERS Social Skills for Young Adults through the UCLA Semel Institute.
Having one's story be heard and validated, remains at the core of Sabrina's role as a psychotherapist.
Sabrina is known for her warm demeanour, comforting presence and person centred approach, which she uses to promote therapeutic change and emotional healing. Sabrina contributes and advocates for mental health education and care by volunteering with YoungMinds Malaysia, and by delivering workshops within the Durham Region and the GTA. When Sabrina is not supporting others, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones, painting, crafting and hiking!
Sabrina holds a Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counselling from Niagara University. Previous to this, Sabrina completed an Honours Bachelor's of Science from the University of Toronto.
Therapy is not a one size fits all service. However, what remains consistent across all of Sabrina's therapeutic work is her commitment to providing an inclusive, culturally sensitive, collaborative, and individualized therapeutic approach. Sabrina balances meeting individuals and families where they are at in their process, while also encouraging growth towards their therapeutic goals.
Sabrina has been trained in various therapeutic modalities that she uses within her practice, which include:
Person Centred Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Emotion-Focused Family Therapy
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
